Thank you for your compliments. My best friend in high school was a staunch atheist, and I at the time was a literalist. Lots of fun there. After I grew up a bit and started reading the Bible for myself, I realized that I am a lot more in line with what’s called the New Church or the Emerging Church than anything else. You might check our kind out, if you’re interested; much more focus on social justice and Jesus’ words about widows, orphans, and the underprivileged, as well as more open to differences in creed and class and choices. Please feel free to drop by my (admittedly inane and distracted) blog any time, for whatever reason.
Also, happy belated birthday!

Thank you!
I’ve read quite a bit about the Emerging Church, they sound pretty rad. My stance as far as atheism goes is that I think it’s a great default position to approach social justice, humanitarianism, humanism and the like. If other people come to the same sort of progressive opinions through their spirituality, then arguing isn’t really worth the time.
It’s when religion starts impacting equality, education, morality and the like that I get all worked up.

Welcome back! Some interesting things have been happening, not only here but also on Justin’s personal blog and my own. Apparently, I’ve embroiled myself in a Lincoln vs. Douglas situation, and Justin and I keep bumping heads over….well, everything.
Hope your trip went well–cheers!
